What is the basic principle of the Fiber Fused Biconic Taper (FBT) System?

The Fiber Fused Biconic Taper (FBT) System operates based on the principles of optical fiber technology and fusion splicing. Here is an overview of its basic principle:

Optical Fiber Technology

  • Light Transmission: Optical fibers transmit light signals over long distances with minimal loss. They consist of a core and a cladding, with the core having a higher refractive index than the cladding to ensure light is guided along the fiber.
  • Mode Propagation: Depending on the core diameter and numerical aperture, optical fibers can support different modes of light propagation, such as single-mode or multi-mode.

Fusion Splicing

  • Process: Fusion splicing involves joining two optical fibers together by melting their ends and fusing them into a single, continuous fiber. This is typically done using a fusion splicer, which uses an electric arc or laser to generate the heat necessary for fusion.
  • Advantages: Fusion splicing provides a low-loss, high-strength connection between optical fibers. It is widely used in telecommunications, data centers, and other applications where reliable and efficient light transmission is crucial.

FBT System Principles

  • Biconic Taper Design: The FBT system employs a biconic taper design, which involves gradually reducing the diameter of the optical fiber in a controlled manner. This design helps to minimize reflections and scattering of light within the fiber, thereby reducing loss and improving performance.
  • Fusion Process: During the fusion process, the biconic tapers of two optical fibers are aligned and heated until they fuse together. The fusion splicer ensures that the fibers are joined with minimal gaps or distortions, which would otherwise cause light loss.
  • Applications: The FBT system is commonly used in optical fiber communication networks, particularly in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems. It can be used to combine or split multiple wavelengths of light within a single optical fiber, thereby increasing the capacity and efficiency of the network.

In summary, the FBT system leverages the principles of optical fiber technology and fusion splicing to provide a low-loss, high-performance connection for optical signals. The biconic taper design helps to minimize reflections and scattering, ensuring that light is efficiently transmitted through the fiber.

Q Fiber-Mart price-match guarantee?

A Fiber-Mart promises a price match guarantee. If you find a price lower than ours on the Qualified Internet Retailer sites listed below, and you meet the eligibility requirements listed below, we will match the price, or within 3 days of your Fiber-Mart purchase and we will give you the difference.

When requesting a price match, please be aware that prices will be compared on the following criteria:

(1). Our Price Match Guarantee does not apply when you use coupons, rebates, promotional offers, free shipping, or product-bundle pricing on the order.
(2). Price comparisons include the product price plus shipping & handling charges when calculating the competitor's total price in comparison to www.fs’s product price and lowest priced shipping method for that item.
(3). Our Price Match Guarantee does not apply to membership pricing.
(4). Our Price Match Guarantee is limited to up to three (3) of the same product, shipped to the same address.
(5). The Price Match Guarantee is subject to change at any time.

Qualified Internet Retailers: eBay.com, Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, Compusa.com, Hardware.com, TigerDirect.com, PROVANTAGE.com

Q Warranty---what is this?

A If any product proves defective during this warranty period, Fiber-Mart, at its option, either will repair the defective product without charge for parts and labor, or will provide a replacement in exchange for the defective product. In order to obtain sales under this warranty, customer must notify Fiber-Mart of the defect before the expiration of the warranty period and make suitable arrangements for the performance of sales. Customer shall be responsible for packaging and shipping the defective product to Fiber-Mart. Customer shall be responsible for paying all shipping charges, duties, taxes and any other charges for products returned to any other locations.

Q Lead-time---what is this?

A Lead time is the period between a customer's order and delivery of the final product. A small order of a pre-existing item may only have a few hours lead time, but a larger order of custom-made parts may have a lead time of weeks, months or even longer. Fiber-Mart produces and stocks a full range of transceivers and other fiber optic products. Normally we can ship within 24 hours, but for some products the lead-time will be 2-3 days or longer. We will notify you of the lead-time over 3 days.
